“Design is not only what it feels like or looks like, Design is how it works”
The primary objective behind the reconstruction of this residence was twofold: first, to incorporate a lift system and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the facade, all while maximizing the utilization of available space. A notable challenge arose due to the continuous use of the first and second floors, necessitating the creation of a new flight of stairs before dismantling the existing one.
In addition to the lift installation, the overarching goal was to improve the environmental sustainability of the house. This was achieved by implementing various eco-friendly features, including an underground water storage tank, rainwater harvesting systems, and solar panels equipped with net metering.
One of the remarkable aspects of this design lies in its ability to preserve every inch of the existing spaces. Despite the challenges posed by the reconstruction, the outcome included the creation of an expansive and inviting balcony at the front of the residence for which uninterrupted girders of 30 feet were installed. Independent lift cum entrance lobbies were strategically incorporated on each floor to ensure convenience and accessibility.
The elements of Vastu principles were incorporated in the interiors and elevation in such a way that they have become the design features. The front facade stands out with distinctive features that lend it a unique character. Thoughtful placement of planters not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to a visually pleasing and harmonious overall design. The success of this reconstruction lies not only in meeting functional requirements but also in enhancing the residence's environmental sustainability and aesthetic charm.
