What do we mean by Eco-living?
The concept of Eco living is the utmost need of the time, but its importance has been enormously highlighted by the pandemic of COVID-19. It has once again asked us to take a few moments and reflect on how we can move closer to nature. It has shown us the importance of living in places which can make maximum use of renewable natural resources like air and sunlight freely available to us. So, while we enjoy our lifestyle, our impact on nature remains minimal.
Since the times of Harappa, architecture has played a pivotal role in the development of these civilizations. Every building or place is designed based on the purpose it has to fulfil. Architecture has evolved as a creative science which makes, the most of the available resources to develop a building with a specific purpose and having an artistic appeal to it. Architecturally, ventilation, natural light reception, planning of proper drainage and incorporation of open and green spaces are of utmost importance during planning. The usage of various materials, colours and metals also plays a significant role in beautifying a place.
To create such buildings or cities which should fulfil their purpose and at the same time adhere to the teachings of nature and still manage to look beautiful, various principles were laid down in Vastu Shashtra. Vaastu principles have been followed from time immemorial during even most of the simple constructions to achieve this goal. The implementation of these principles has changed by the evolving lifestyle but the objective remains the same.
Vaastu emphasizes these very aspects of Architecture to enable the flow of positive energies and break the blockage of negative ones throughout the spaces, so the occupants can enjoy the bliss of goodness of Eco-Living.
Living in complete harmony with nature is Eco-living, and Vaastu architecture of our living and working spaces plays a huge role in compliance with nature.
Other aspects of Eco-living involve the usage of solar energy, rainwater harvesting, doing proper waste management and taking care of cleanliness around us.
Let me give you some examples:
When we say that according to Vaastu, there should not be anything on Bramhasthan, it gives openness to a place. Nothing heavy should be kept or built in North East, it allows natural light and air to enter the place. Cluttering should not happen, it keeps our places clean. The slope of the plot should be from South to North to enable a smooth energy flow, since all the toilets are planned in South / South West / South South West, it helps in a good drainage system also. Similarly, all Vaastu principles which apart from sustaining a smooth energy flow and balancing the five elements of nature serve to enhance the efficient use the natural resources while planning.
Here comes the role of Vaastu Architecture, where we are offering architectural services based on Vaastu principles. While planning care is taken to let the positive energies flow without obstructions and the functional flow of all the activities that need to be carried out are taken care of.
Eco-living, if followed in a home, will have a positive effect on the thought process, health and overall well-being of the occupants. In a workplace, it enhances the productivity of the employees, and a healthy working environment thereby reaping good profits.
